Buzau County School Inspectorate, in partnership with Vox Civica Association, organized on March 28 th a.m. an event to inform and promote  “RomABC – the Next Dimension” project within ERASMUS + Program, K2 – Strategic Partnerships. The project is dedicated to reducing functional illiteracy and increasing the educational skills of Roma adults in partner countries (Greece, Hungary, Romania and Germany).

The event took place in  Gheorghe Filipescu Hall of the Buzău County Council, to which we warmly thank this way.

During the meeting, Mr. Calin Iosif, the representative of Vox Civica Association made a presentation of the project objectives as well as of the activities carried out to date. Ms. Anca Harabagiu, school inspector for minorities, also presented data on how the “Second Chance” program managed to diminish school dropout among Roma students, as well as its benefits for the Roma adults who have not completed their compulsory education.

Taking into account that the event is not only for Roma, but also for representatives of the most important stakeholders in the field of education and not only, we debated about the importance of the education for the people belonging to the vulnerable groups, especialy for Roma, because an educated person can be a good professional and a good professional can be hired for a good salary, in a such way the circle of poverty and social exclusion can be broken.

At the end of the meeting, the topic of the debate was: Is education a real chance for the social inclusion of the Roma? Participants in the talks were Roma stakeholders and resources from the education area (school mediators, teachers of Romani language, Roma teachers, etc.).
